If you follow me on Twitter I promise you’ll experience pleasure like never before*
*Probably not true
The Strip: Another little departure from the current Anxiety and Depression story. Back to it Monday and will fish up next week. Yeah so…apparently the people are from the late 60’s…I dunno why. It just felt right drawing them like that.
Gaming: Warp is an adorable little puzzle game which on the outside looks like its great for kids…and by “on the outside” I mean before your actually warp inside human and explode them. I can’t help but feel a little bad every time I do it. Its a fantastic little game though and suggest you check it out.
TV/Movies: So I half watched The Big Bang Theory while I was drawing the strip…I wasn’t really enjoying it. Isn’t it supposed to be really good? Am I just broken?
Music: I don’t know why but i got a hankering to listen to the True Blood soundtrack today, and reminisce about when Bill and Sookie fell in love…ah the good old days.
Life: So I figured out why people gain weight on Lexepro…from the unparalleled hunger. I am beyond starving at all times. I mean, I’ve always had this problem but now I feel like a bear coming out of hibernation. Voracious.
Wan’t to tell you guys to check out my buddy Rickard’s iOS game. It’s perfect for little kids and people who like dressing up cute little animals. Go grab it, it’s FREE!
Friday, thank God!

Regarding The Big Bang Theory, it’s not just you. I imagine it’s what real doctors feel when watching Grey’s Anatomy, or when anyone with a basic grasp of reality watches CSI. Maybe it’s just us nerds that have a problem with it… It seems to be popular among women, though.
Like I said I was just half watching, and I have heard that they have had subtle nods to geeky things that I love dearly, and thought that I had heard good things about the show in general…so I was worried that something was wrong with me:)
No, you aren’t broken. The Big Bang Theory is terrible and is designed for people who accept “computers” as and answer to what I do for a living.
Love the strip, keep your chin up. The two plagues have nothing on clever wit 😉
Whew, I was worried! Thanks so much for following the strip:)
The Big Bang Theory is not so much an insight into a nerd lifestyle, than what a group, probably composed of those bullies that used to beat up nerds like that, think how nerds actually live their life. I don’t see the appeal of it (question to all nerds of that sort of calibre: how many of you actually had a friend that looked as hot as the girl on BBT does?)
It felt a bit pander-ish.
I think the whole nerd lifestyle angle on BBT is just window dressing. At its core you have the eccentric guy, the eccentric guy’s less eccentric friend, the foreign/ethnic friend, the hot girl next door, etc. The fact that a lot of my coworkers enjoy it shows that it’s universally bland crap with a nerd paint job to distinguish it from the rest of the sitcoms.
Pardon my hyperbole, but I think The Big Band Theory is to nerds what the CW lineup is to teenagers and the black community (read into that how you will). It doesn’t bother me so much that people watch it as they use it to connect with nerds. “Oh, you like comic books? ‘Ba-zinga!'”
Oh, the comic… yeah, exploding people sounds fun! I’ll have to try the demo.
I think you will like it. It’s a fun little game (so far).
I remember someone telling me that if you do a psychoanalysis on ten year old boys, a highly increased percentage will register as sociopathic. Sounds legit :).
I cant see this not being 100% true.
THE PLEASURE IS REAL…MY GOD, THE COLOURS!!!!
It’s my “Special Formula.”
The key word here is “Explicitly!”
Indeed. Thanks Mark!
BBT suffers from a lot of problems. Every episode looks like this to me:
Guy 1: “Pop culture reference that was relevant about ten years ago”
*PAUSE FOR CANNED LAUGHTER*
Guy 2: “Snarky comment that doesn’t make very much sense”
*STARE AT CAMERA*
Guy 1: “I’M WRITTEN TO LOOK LIKE I HAVE ASPERGER’S!!!!!!!!”
*PAUSE FOR CANNED LAUGHTER*
Hot Chick: “I’M HOT, AND I PUT UP WITH THESE SOCIAL REJECTS BECAUSE I’M A GOOD PERSON!”
*PAUSE FOR APPLAUSE*
*Credits*
Thats kind of what it felt all summed up nice and neat there. Well done.
Yeah… that does sum it up pretty well.
A bit late to the party, but I have to “defend” one of my favorite shows.
1. All comedy shows can be summed up in a similar way as above.
2. Sitcoms are always about misfits. Try to tell me that the characters in Friends behave “normal”.
3. I think BBT is funny, and I see myself as a nerd. (comics/programming/science fiction/math and such).
4. She is not that hot.
No no, the party is always open, and welcome.
Warp is a terrorist training ground!
Lets just hope this technology doesn’t exist.
I am told that the party is still open, so I’ll say it. I love the big bang theory, and yet I have never heard a single good thing about it. Every ‘nerd’ you will ever ask (exhibit A: your comment section) will say that it’s terrible and offensive. I can’t tell if that’s because I’m some kind of odd hipster, or if a lot of people seem to think that portrayal of their lifestyle is offensive, but I’ve never had any problem with the show. It’s probably a little of both.
