One Year of Control Freaks
Happy Anniversary, babeon August 13, 2013 at 8:43 pm
It’s been one year since the first Control Freaks post. ONE YEAR. Let that sink in for a minute. A couple of dudes writing about video games, on the Internet, over the span of 365 days. 8766 hours. 525,960 minutes. Many, many seconds.
We hope you’ve enjoyed more than a few of those temporal units with us. We’ve certainly had a lot of fun wracking our brains for clever things to say, and pretty pictures to go with them. Why else would we keep doing this for a year? Civic duty? Narcissism? Insanity? Yes.
It just so happens that Friday is the anniversary of the first proper article. I’ve looked back at old articles before, and I am stunned by how pleased I am with everything still. We are Control Freaks, after all. Nothing is ever good enough until we’ve forced our will upon it. Sure, we’ve had slow weeks, articles that weren’t hard-hitting. But at least I can say that we stand by everything we publish 100%, because it’s from the heart.
We get lazy sometimes. We have lives and day jobs. That we manage anything consistently at all is good enough for me. Hell, sometimes we piss off The Internet, which is both gratifying and terrifying at the same time. It’s my hope that we continue to do so, only with more people getting involved. Contributing articles, or just posting a comment… we cherish any scrap of love and attention that comes our way.
After all, the site really is for you. Come for the comic, stay to shoot the breeze about an obscure game or a worrying trend. While we welcome any and all Internet denizens, it’s really a site for friends. It’s a place for you to hang out away from all the trolling and up/down votes. We’re not trending on Twitter, or popular on reddit, and I’m OK with that.
So here’s to you, dear reader, for making this measly little blog more than worth it for over a year. We’ve got Tyler-flavored ramblings for you Thursday, and after that… well…
…we’ll figure something out.
